Awareness session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act

The Women Development Cell organised an awareness session on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on 15 July 2026 at the Durgadevi Saraf Auditorium. The session was conducted by Advocate Aumkaar Sane, who explained the key provisions of the POCSO Act, emphasising the protection of children from sexual offences, awareness of legal rights, identification of inappropriate behaviour, and the importance of reporting incidents through appropriate legal channels. The programme was attended by 242 students, comprising 175 girls and 67 boys, who actively benefited from the informative and interactive session.

 

Awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at the Workplace

The Women Development Cell organised an awareness session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at the Workplace for the teaching and non-teaching staff on 15 July 2026 at the Durgadevi Saraf Auditorium. The session was conducted by Mrs. Sharmila Ranade, who elaborated on the key provisions of the POSH Act, the rights and responsibilities of employees, the role of the Internal Committee, and the procedures for addressing workplace harassment. The interactive session strengthened participants’ understanding of workplace ethics, legal compliance, and the importance of fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive work environment. The programme was attended by 76 participants, including 50 teaching and 26 non-teaching staff members.

Self-Defence Workshop for Girl students

A Self-Defence Workshop for girl students was organised on 16 July 2026 at the Durgadevi Saraf Auditorium. The session was conducted by Mr. Ram Kotap, who demonstrated practical self-defence techniques and strategies to enhance situational awareness, personal safety, and self-confidence. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on practice, participants acquired practical skills to respond effectively during emergencies. The workshop was attended by 143 girl students.

 

Health and Hygiene Awareness Session

A Health and Hygiene Awareness Session for girl students was conducted on 17 July 2026 at the Durgadevi Saraf Auditorium. The session was led by Dr. Pradhna Shetty, Gynaecologist, who addressed key aspects of menstrual hygiene, reproductive health, personal hygiene, and healthy lifestyle practices. She also encouraged open discussions to dispel common misconceptions surrounding menstrual health. As part of the initiative, PLUSH distributed sanitary wear free of cost to all participants and announced the installation of a sanitary napkin vending machine on the college campus to promote menstrual hygiene and ensure easy access to essential sanitary products. Conducted in two batches, the programme witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 410 girl students.
