TABLA / PAKHWAJ

Practical

  1. Practice to play full Tabla Lahra of a Samapadi and Bisamapadi Taal.
  2. Practice to play the Taal with Teehai of the following Taals
    1. Dhamar Taal ii ) Aada Chautal Taal, iii) Jhumra Taal vi) Pancham v) Sawari taal
  3. Accompaniment with the song/bandish/gat in above taals
  4. Ability to play and say altogether any Bols of above Taals
  5. To play bols of any Taal of the above and previous year’s Taals with Harmonium
  6. Ability to play previous and present year’s syllabus with Thaay, Dwiguna, Teen Guna, chauguna laya and Aad laya
  7. Ability to play with Indian and Western combined Rhythm Fusion.
  8. Ability to accompany minimum 45 minutes with Chhota Khyal and Thumri
  9. Knowledge of previous year’s syllabus

Theory Oral

  1. Defination or Paribhasha : Definitions of all previous year’s syllabus.
  2. Ability to write Taal lipi of all previous year’s Prescribed Taals in the syllabus.
  3. What are the Tabla Gharanas of Hindustani Music. A comparative discussion with the different Gharanas.
  4. Write a brief ( any one ) about 150 words about  Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Pt. Yashraj, Pt. Ajay Chakrabarty, Ustad Rashid Khan, Ustad Abid Hussain , Shiv Mani, Nana Panse, Koud Singh, Khabbe Hussain and Bathan Khan
  5. Complete Introduction in writing taal lipi of i) Dhamar Taal ii ) Aada Chautal Taal, iii) Jhumra Taal vi) Pancham Sawari taal
  6. Identify the Thekas of present and previous year’s Taal.
  7. Knowledge of previous year’s syllabus

3. To Sing/play Dhrupad, Dhamar, Chaturang and Tarana of the above Raag
4, Practice Tirobhab, Avirbhaab of any one of above Raags
5. Learning of Taal : i) Ashta Mangal taal Taal ii) Shikhar Taal, iii) Arjun Taal iv) Kumbha taal Ability to tell the Theka of Taal with Taali and Thaay / Dwigun laya
6. To play with theka the any one of the above taal
7. Identify the the Aalap of the above Raag.
9. Raag Comparisons and explanation of the raags present and previous year
10 . Sugam Sangeet : One Thumri and Kajri of any one of the above Raag, Baul Song and Sufi song
11. Voice Training of Seventh Step. ( Vocal Only )
12. Raag Based Bollywood songs. Medley song of one particular Raag ( both for Vocal and Instrumental)
13 . Karaoke Singing/playing Practice of Bollywood songs and Practice of previous years karaoke song
14. Practical singing/playing session and demonstration of Studio: Special Session with Special Guest.

3. Compares of Bhatkhande and Pt. Vishnu Digambar Swaralipi. Critic analysis with merits and demerits.
4. To make simple Taal sargam of the Prescribed Raag.
5. Present years Taal parichaya
6. Compose a new song and make Swaralipi with western chord chart and make the prelude interlude music of the song with proper notation.
7. Define Pandit and Ustad, Gharana and Baaj, Tat Vadya, Avnadhya Vadya, Ghana Vadya
8. Similarities and Dissimilarities of the Present and Previous Raag
9 Number of Aandolans of Indian and Western Note ( swar )
10. Identify the Raag with Swar
11. Discuss and compare of seven musical Gharanas. Which Gharana is best for you and why?
