National Service Scheme (NSS)

 

Our Volunteers actively participated in the Mangrove and Beach Cleaning Activities at Manori and Bhayandar. The activity was organised in association with For Future India (FFI).  On 17th, 18th, 19th and 21st June, 2024 four days traning camp was conducted at Kaivalyadham, Churni Road with collaboration with University of Mumbai in which two volunteers participated.  On 21st June, 2024 International Yoga Day was celebrated in Dhudhmal Bajaj Hall. Mr. Suryakant Pilankar from Aarogya Bharati was the Instructor for the session. He demonstrated various Aasanas and Pranayams. Around 60 students participated in the event.  On 23rd June, 2024 10 Volunteers participated in Yoga Day celebration conducted by Brahmakumaris at Ekta Tripolis near Prabodhan Ground, Goregaon West. 

 

On 14th August, 2024 Tiranga Padyatra was organised by the NSS unit of the University of Mumbai. In which 5 of our volunteers participated. In the month of September, 2024 our Volunteers offered their services in the Ganpati Visarjan activity. 

 

19 of our volunteers participated in the Bhajan Sandhya at Gateway of India on 2nd October, 2024. Bhajan Sandhya is an activity which is conducted every year by the NSS unit of the University of Mumbai. In the month of October, 2024 our NSS volunteers participated in the Hanuman Mandir Cleaning Activity. The student volunteers as a part of Area based II activity supported the Temple staff in the cleaning and upkeep of the temple premises to maintain the positivity. The student volunteers engaged in the activity on every Monday and Friday. 

 

On Account of Constitution Day on November 26, 2024, the NSS unit conducted an activity in which the Preamble of the Constitution was read out. Students also presented poems and thoughts during this Activity, and 11 of our volunteers participated. On account of International Human Rights Day, a drama was staged in Room Number 303, where 8 of our volunteers participated. The focus of the drama was the Khairlanji incident, which shattered the state of Maharashtra and the country. The NSS Volunteers also participated in a few Area-based and university-based activities like the Beach Clean Up Activity every Sunday of this quarter; 30 of our Girl volunteers participated in Invincible Women Run with Pinkthon. The Activity was conducted at Inorbit Mall, Malad West. 22 of our Volunteers participated in the Nirman Youth for Purposeful Life session on December 11, 2024, at Patkar College. 37 of our Volunteers even participated in the Samvidhan Diwas Padyatra conducted at Gautam Buddha Udyan Worli on November 26, 2024, by the NSS unit of the University of Mumbai. On November 17, 2024, 17 of our Volunteers participated in the Road Traffic Safety Awareness Session conducted by Brahma Kumaris. Twenty-five volunteers participated in the Voters Awareness Campaign at Gateway of India conducted by the NSS Unit of the University of Mumbai. 18 of our Volunteers participated in the Bird gazing Activity conducted at Bhayandar by the Kandalvan Department of Forests, North Konkan. 

 

On 12th January, 2025 10 of our volunteers attended the 6th S.S. Saraswathy Memorial lecture at Vivek College of Commerce. 

 

In the month of January, all the volunteers offered their service in the cleaning of the Hanuman Temple at Chincoli Bunder on all the Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays of the month. 

 

The volunteers even volunteered for the smooth conduction of the IRB/JBB/BKT Freeship and Scholarship event on 19th January, 2025 at P.D. Shah Sports Academy. Also, they volunteered for the Annual Day on the very next day i.e. on 20th January, 2025. 

 

7 Days Residential Camp was conducted from 22nd January, 2025 to 28th January, 2025 at Gondav near Khopoli. It was the very first year of the adoption of the village and as part of the camp various activities were conducted. On the very first day of the Camp Inauguration took place at the hands of the Sarpanch and Upasarpanch of the village. On the second day of the camp a total of 45 students were divided into five groups with each group comprising of 9 members. These groups were assigned various activities like Cooking, Cleaning, Hospitality, Washing of Utensils and Serving. Each group had to do these assigned activities on the daily basis, with these duties being rotational in nature, every group getting to do one of the above activities each day. Other than this the Group also had to engage themselves in other activities like Tree Plantation, Tree Watering etc. If a particular group was assigned with the task of Planting a tree at a designated spot then the same group watered those plants as they knew were the trees were planted. Thus, a learning experience for the Volunteers. In these seven days of the Camp they engaged their services in the Tree Plantation activity around Gondav Rest House which was the site of the stay. They also planted trees at the Thakur wadi village, near Gondav. The volunteers also cleaned the village. Besides, the Volunteers also displayed wonderful banners with beautiful messages about Water Conversation, Tree Plantation in Marathi. These banners were displayed in and around Gondav Village at strategic spots which would help in the visibility of those banners to the people who visited the village. On 26th January, 2025 the unit conducted the Tiranga Yatra in and around Gondav village on account of Republic Day. It was a very pleasant experience for the volunteers. 

 

On the same day Program Officer Prof. Siddharth S. Apte and Prof. Neelam Maurya conducted a session on personality development and interviewing skills. To encourage the volunteers to keep on doing well three prizes were also offered to the Best NSS Volunteer for the Camp Male which was won by Mr. Tamilmani Kounder from SYBCom, Best NSS Volunteer Female which was won by Ms. Sakshi Rathod from FYBCom and the Best Group award was won by Group Number 4 which was led by Mr. Gopal Jha of SYBCom.

 

7 of our volunteers participated in the “Peace and Communal Harmony” Rally conducted by Mumbai Sarvodaya Mandal at S.N.D.T Women’s University, Juhu.

 

6 of our Volunteers participated in the Bhayandar Khadi East Cleanup Activity on 9th February, 2025. 

 

15 of our Volunteers participated in the Mega Padyatra event organized by the NSS Unit of university of Mumbai on account of 130th Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on 19th Febraury, 2025. The event was conducted at Bandra Fort, Bandra West. 

 

10 of our Volunteers participated in the Samvidhan Amrut Mahotsav at University of Mumbai fort Campus, Convocation Hall on 20th February, 2025. 

 

The event was organized by the NSS unit of University of Mumbai.

 

On 23rd February, 2025 19 of our Volunteers participated in the Manori Beach Cleanup. On 27th February, 2025 5 of our Volunteers participated in the Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din Activity organized by the Marathi language Department of the Government of Maharashtra.

Our Volunteers actively participated in the Mangrove and Beach Cleaning Activities at Manori and Bhayandar.
