Report of NSS Activity on Kranti Diwas, World Tribal Day and Anti-Nuclear Day

On Monday, August 09, 2021 NSS Activity was conducted on Kranti Diwas, World Tribal Day and Anti-Nuclear Day.

In the beginning, NSS volunteer Sahil Sawant gave a speech on ‘Kranti Diwas’ in which he spoke about the day being observed so as to remember the historic ‘Quit India Movement’ against the British, initiated by Mahatma Gandhi and Indian National Congress.

Another NSS volunteer, Sharwari Desai, gave a PPT presentation on ‘World Tribal Day’ which coincides with August Kranti Diwas. World Tribal Day is observed on 9 August each year to raise awareness and protect the rights of the world’s indigenous population. Miss Sharwari shared information about different dialects being spoken throughout India by the tribal people, the problems these tribal people face and possible solutions for the same.

Prof. Surendra Sawardekar from our college dealt with the topic ‘Anti-nuclear Day’. Through his interactive session, he enhanced the audience’s awareness about the ill-effects of nuclear weapons on the living beings on the earth. He ended his presentation by adding that we should ‘Embrace a World Free of Nuclear Weapons’.

The activity concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Munaf Tamboli, followed by the National anthem.
