Annual Day Celebration

Durgadevi Saraf Junior College managed by Rajasthani Sammelan Education Trust celebrated, its 45 th Annual Day on 23 rd December, 2019 in the P.D. Shah Sports academy situated in R.S. Campus. All the students participated wholeheartedly towards the success of this grand event. The students put up a grand show of dance and music depicting the colourful variations of our cultural heritage.

The esteemed Chief Guest on this occasion was Smt. Vidya J. Thakur who is a well known BJP leader and a member of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Goregaon Constituency. The Guest of Honour was Shri Yash P. Saraf who is the trustee of RSET. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Shri Ashok Saraf president RSET, Shri Kailash Kejriwal secretary RSET, trustee members Joint Secretary Shri Lalit Saraf, Shri Kailash Parasrampuria, Shri Vinod Dalmia, Shri Rajaram Chandgotia, Shri Vinay Saraf, Educational director Dr. Sunanda Kar, Administrator Prof. Bhavana Vaidya and Coordinator Prof. Swapna Roy. We commenced the programme with a prayer dance invoking the blessings of Goddess Durga. Next, we moved to our cultural entertainment with vibrant and impressive folk dances. It began with Rajasthani dance depicting the diverse range of cultures expressing its royalty, emotions, celebrations and festivity amongst everyone.

As Plato quoted, “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” Music in any form, instrumental or vocal is enjoyed by everyone. Our next event ‘Voice of Saraf’ was the mega-event of the day, a singing competition where students rendered melodious Hindi songs along with the orchestra. The Vice Principal Smt. Shashi Yadav welcomed the august gathering and presented the Annual Report of the College.

The President of Rajasthani Sammelan Shri Ashok Saraf welcomed the guest and apprised them of the achievements and future plans. Chief Guest, Smt. Vidhya J Thakur delivered a valuable speech. She appreciated the efforts of R.S. management and praised them for their endeavours. She congratulated all the participants, thanked RSET for grooming the young minds, the bright future of our country. Also advised the students to become a good human being and develop love for the country. She highly appreciated our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s campaign to “Save Girl Child & Swachha Bharat Abhiyaan.

The meritorious students were awarded Trophies/Shields by the Chief Guest. The “Voice of Saraf” trophy was awarded to Piyush Shukla. The “Best student of the year” was awarded to Harshitha Kulora. Also the prizes for curricular and co-curricular activities were given to the deserving students. This was followed by Kashmiri dance, another folk dance putting the limelight on the tradition of Kashmir. The next performance was from the state of Gujarat which is known not only for its rich heritage but also for its popular folk dance, Garba. It’s the soul of Gujrati culture. Festivals add much-needed zing to our life and give us an opportunity to forget all our worries and fill us with merriment. This was reflected in Marathi folk dance which showcased various festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi, Govinda, Navratri, Nag Panchami, and Holi. Next dance was freestyle western dance which was followed by the Bollywood Retro dance. So the day ultimately ended with gripping performances which held the viewers attention and thrilled, reminiscing the viewers, about the old songs and filled them with nostalgia.

The audience was captivated by the enchanting performances of the students. The Annual Day that highlighted the outstanding work of the students was appreciated by one and all. The Programme was compered jointly by Ms. Mamta Holani & Ms. Sandhya R. The vote of Thanks was given by Evening incharge, Ms. Sudha Mishra.

The programme ended with national anthem.
