PGDM in Media & Communication

Give your media career a headstart with PGDM!

Mindful Communication:
Communication is a very powerful tool. However, in our times of distractions and persistent notifications, real human communication is becoming difficult. It is no wonder then that people have better virtual relationships than real ones. Mindful Communication is one of its kind that is included in the curriculum. It is all about being present to others.

Mindful Communication covers talks on One individual to another individual, One individual to a group, Group to an individual. It also includes external environment, Individual behavior, stature, lifestyle, educational background, etc and how does one balance all these factors for effective mindful communication.

Capstone Project:
The media and communication sector require professionals who understand production as well as know how to work at the spreadsheets – managerial talent who can plan and execute. Media careers are shaped by the experience our students get by working hand in hand with industry professionals. The Capstone Project is a combination of both, internship as well as an industry immersion project with the opportunity to integrate and apply previous learning (academic and field) through the creation and implementation of a project independently or with the organization that they work in, to demonstrate the knowledge and skills that they have acquired during their PGDM program.

It also gives students the opportunity to contribute to the knowledge-base of the profession and to find solutions to issues / problems in their profession that could lead to better productivity in their chosen field, at the same time benefitting the organisation they work in.

This Project is an applied project carried out under the guidance of the advisor(s), implemented either independently or within the organisation where the student works. Students work with their academic advisor and/or industry advisor to develop, implement and present a feasible Capstone Project.

It is designed to meet the learning needs and interests of the students, as well as make a contribution to the organisation where the student works/interns. The Capstone Project may build upon previous coursework that is applied to the organisation and/or may build upon a project already initiated at the organisation. The Capstone Project is a part of the PGDM Media and Communication curriculum for both the specializations.

International & Rural Immersion
The International Immersion helps the students get a world-view of the international media industry, and makes them ready for the global media and entertainment industry. India still resides in its villages. But rapid urbanization is changing the dynamics of media consumption and distribution.

The rapid development and proliferation of the Internet and mobile telephony has also disrupted and redistributed the revenue flows in all the sectors. The robust PGDM programme in Media and Communication addresses all these developments and makes the students ready to take on the world, ready for the tough, dynamic media and entertainment industry.
